Etiology of Obesity

Obesity is the result of genetic, behavioral, environmental, physiological, social, and cultural factors resulting in energy imbalance and promoting excessive deposition of fat. There has been extensive study of the relative contribution of each of these factors, and although genes play an important role in regulating body weight.
